Conflict Global Storm Game Review: Conflict Global Storm is the 4th in the series & while previous versions have been set during a war, this time it is the war against terror. Jones,Foley, Connors and Bradley are back, & are joined by Sherman; sniper expert, & despite being a huge leap forward for the series in terms of presentation, the game still suffers from the same old problems which have plagued the previous 3 games. Global Storm plays out over 10 to 12 hours & spans many locations and countries. There is a good variety of indoor & outdoor missions, and some vehicles to drive. If you have played the previous games you will definitely know what to expect.

Pivotal claimed that this years game would feature substantially improved AI for enemies, but that does not really seem to be the case. All the enemies are still intent on running at the player, with unreal thought to their safety. You are never going to be challenged in a 1 on 1 confrontation, but they use their limited brain cells to realise this is not a good idea, & usually come at you in large groups. It is probably a bit too much to expect all the games to have AI that matches, found in the Halo games but given this is the 4th game in the series, I expect something better than that what was delivered. Players team-mates generally do pretty well for themselves, takes out enemies on their own, but they once again do not know how to take cover. They have been a risk taking lot since the 1st game, & nothing much has changed. Considering that the survival is vital to mission success, this is a flaw that is hard to overlook. Desert Storm & Vietnam were hardly stunning to look at with drab texture & relatively simple environment, but the Global Storm moved the series on significantly. Character environments and models are vastly more detailed than before, & lighting has improved dramatically. The PlayStation2 version does not have the most stable frame rate, but you will be used to that if you have played the previous games on that platform.
